Inspirations..

INSPIRATIONS

We googled 'top ten horror movies' and looked at and analysed how they advertised their film in a trailer. Here are some examples of ones we were inspired by, and some conventions they use...

'The Woman in Black'

  • The creepy, quiet music
  • The use of a voiceover
  • Fades to black in between short clips
  • Not giving away the story - shots of the setting and a few characters
  • Builds up - music gets faster/louder and the clips get shorter/faster
  • Slows right down at the end
  • Blood writing on the wall

  • This teaser trailer shows a different approach at using the horror genre
  • calm yet eerie poem sung in a nursery rhyme style
  • exaggerated sounds effects such as the wind blowing
  • eerie and on edge
  • mysterious- only showing a creepy aspects of the film, leaving a lot unknown

'The Human Centipede'
  • The car driving in the rain
  • The creepy man living alone
  • Text in between clips explaining story

'The Ward'
  • Silences in between clips
  • Clips flashing very quickly
  • Builds up to extreme moments by using faster clips
  • Extra clip at the end after film title/release date etc
