TODOROV'S THEORY
Todorov proposed a basic structure for all narratives, this 5 stage structure being..- Equilibrium- a calm period
- Disruption of the equilibrium- period of unsettlement and disquiet
- Resolution- realising the distruption
- Restored Order- trying to fix the cause of unsettlement/ change
- New Equilibrium- characters find a new equilibrium

We can apply this theory because we plan to show scenes of equilibrium in the beginning of our trailer followed by the disruption (Car breaking down/ characters dying) the recognition (characters realising they are in trouble) the attempt at repair (clips of characters trying to escape) however it differs slightly with the new equilibrium, due to the fact this is only a teaser trailer and we therefore wouldn't include any hints as to the new equilibrium at the end, if there is one..
LEVI-STRAUSS' BINARY OPPOSITION

We also saw the Levi-Strauss' theory in our trailer as he believed narrative tension is based on opposition or conflict. This can be as simple as two characters fighting but more often functions at an idealogical level. Examples of this are the Hobbits vs the Orcs in 'Lord of the Rings'.
We find this applies to our trailer because we plan on our narrative tension being the bad guy on the opposition to the main characters/ victims and also the audience watching.
